How do feel about statements in the Bible that say the following?

  • Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
  • This is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. (John 5: 11-13)
  • "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.” (John 3: 16-18)
  • He saved us, not because of the good things we did, but because of his mercy. (Titus 3: 4, 5)
  • So receiving God's promise is not up to us. We can't get it by choosing it or working hard for it. God will show mercy to anyone he chooses. (Romans 9:16)
  • It is God who saved us and chose us to live a holy life. He did this not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan long before the world began--to show his love and kindness to us through Christ Jesus. (2 Timothy 1:9)
